Dan Pocek

“Those who know me know my favorite saying is ” I wasn’t born in Bedford, but I got here as quick as I could”   Here neighbors become friends and friends become family.  Bedford touches your heart and surrounds you like a warm blanket.”

Dan graduated from Bedford High School and began his teaching career in Bedford as well as raising his two sons with his wife, Christine, of 54 years in his adoptive city.  Dan served the City of Bedford for 30 years with distinction as a member of city council and then as Mayor, guiding the city with vision and integrity.

Dan, 80, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, after a short illness. Ever committed to Bedford, he was meeting in his home, just weeks before his death, with members of the Historical Society to help create the plan to revitalize the historical downtown of the city he loved. His devotion and commitment to the Bedford community will be embraced by the Historical Society as we move forward with the dream that Dan envisioned for Bedford.
