David Berry was born and raised in Bedford, graduating from Bedford High School before going on to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering from Cleveland State University. In 2020, he purchased the former Southeast YMCA and renovated it to become the home of APEC Engineering, the company he started in Bedford 13 years prior.

“Bedford is my history.  My grandparents all lived here, and I was raised here as was my wife.  It is a blend of my heritage, my education, my children, my career and business. Bedford is every part of who I am, and because of that, I am committed to giving back to this community that is a large part of who I have become.”

Laura’s ties to Bedford go back to her grandparents, who all lived in Bedford.  Her Mom and Dad were both born in Bedford homes and lived in the city their entire lives.  Laura graduated from Bedford High School and went on to complete her undergraduate degree in Marketing and MBA in Finance from Cleveland State University.  Laura retired in 2020 after 23 years working in her own business managing non-profit associations.  In her spare time, Laura enjoys her grandchildren and loves visiting National Parks.

“We are fortunate to live near the Bedford Reservation, one of two reservations of which Brecksville is the second, that fall within the boundaries of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the only national park in Ohio.”

  • Tim Taylor

    Tim Taylor

Only 4 years after graduating from Bedford High School, Tim began a 40-year long career as a Cleveland Radio and television news anchor, serving as the primary news anchor at FOX8 News for 30 years. His work has been honored with inductions into the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame, the Cleveland Press Club Hall of Fame, the Cleveland Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame, the National Association of Television Artists Silver Circle Award, along with numerous television Emmy Awards. But his particular pride is in being a charter member of Bedford High School’s Distinguished Alumni, a nod to the hometown that shaped his life. A lifelong advocate for his historic hometown, he promoted Bedford throughout his broadcasting years and continues that commitment today as a dedicated board member of the Bedford Historical Society.

“I wasn’t just raised in Bedford, my life was shaped by my beloved hometown where integrity, hard work, and lifelong friendships were valued above all else. My reverence for community, heritage and storytelling remain as strong as ever. I and my wife, Cathy, now embrace the joys of family life sharing our days with our children and grandchildren, surrounded by family, community and the history I love. For me, Bedford is the legacy that continues to echo warmly through its people and this beautiful area.”
