Join the Bedford Historical Society and the Ohio History Connection on Saturday, September 12, 2026, when the doors of the Dunham House will open allowing you to take a peek at life in Bedford in the 1830’s.
Clarissa Dunham will greet you and take you on a tour of the rooms while sharing the story of how she and Hezekiah arrived in Bedford, built their home in 1832 and went on to become the “first family of Bedford” granting a large portion of their land to the Township creating a communal public square and laying the framework for the historic town we know today. In true hostess fashion, tea and bites will be provided.
During Ohio Open Doors, historic buildings, places and spaces across Ohio’s 88 counties will open their doors to the public for special tours and programs.
“Ohio Open Doors shares stories of important landmarks and interesting places right in our communities, highlighting the history and unique nature of some of Ohio’s most treasured sites,” says Diana Welling, Director of the Ohio History Connection’s State Historic Preservation Office.
