Event Overview

Anna Mary Robertson Moses, better known as Grandma Moses, began her painting career in her 70’s and was “discovered” at age 78. Over the next two decades she became an American icon creating over 1,600 registered paintings of the landscape she knew so long ago. She visited her Ohio cousins in 1941, visiting with Daniel Drew’s grandmother in M. Liberty, Ohio. Daniel Drew’s mother Ruth Wintermute, Bedford teacher from 1927-1940, was Grandma Moses’ second cousin. She collected memorabilia of Grandma Moses for over 50 years and as a result, Mr. Drew has more than 200 items related to her art and life including an original painting. Many of these items will be shared in the presentation.

Mr. Drew is a clergy member of the United Methodist Church. He has a B.A. in Humanities (Baldwin Wallace College) and master’s degrees from Methodist Theological School. He is retired and lives with his wife, Debbie, in Cleveland Heights.
